Paddle Board Storage Basics

If you’re like most people, you probably don’t have a lot of space to spare for storing your paddle board.

But don’t worry; there are still plenty of ways to store your board safely without taking up too much space. Here are some tips:

  • This is the ideal place to store your paddle board if you have an outdoor shed or garage. Just ensure the area is clean and dry and that the board is protected from any sharp objects that could puncture it.
  • If you don’t have an outdoor storage option, you can also store your paddle board indoors. Just find a spot where it won’t be in the way, such as under a bed or in a closet. Again, ensure the area is clean and dry to protect your board.
  • If you live in an apartment or other small space, you can even store your paddle board on a balcony or deck if it’s large enough. Just secure the board so it doesn’t blow away in windy weather.

With these tips in mind, you should have no problem finding a safe place to store your paddle board when not in use.

Indoors or Outdoors?

If you have the space to store your paddle board indoors, this is always the best option to protect it from the elements.

If you don’t have indoor storage space, or if you plan on using your paddle board frequently and want it to be easily accessible, storing it outdoors is also an option.

Just be sure to choose a spot sheltered from the wind and sun and where the board won’t be exposed to excessive heat or cold.

Seasonal Considerations

When storing your paddle board, it’s important to consider the season.

If you live in an area with harsh winters, you’ll want to ensure your board is stored properly to avoid any damage from the cold weather.

Here are a few tips for storing your paddle board during the winter months:

  • Store your board in a cool, dry place. A garage or shed is ideal.
  • If possible, elevate your board off the ground to prevent moisture damage.
  • Cover your board with a tarp or sheet to protect it from the elements.
  • Check on your board regularly to ensure the cold weather is not damaging.

The Right Rack for the Right Board

There are a few things to consider when purchasing a storage rack for your paddle board. First, think about where you will be storing the board. If it is outdoors, make sure the rack is weather resistant.

Second, consider the size of your board and purchase a rack that can accommodate it. Finally, pick a style of rack that best suits your needs.

Wall mount racks are great for those with limited space, while a standing rack allows easy access and can be stored in any room.

If you plan to transport your board, invest in a truck or car rack that securely holds the board while you drive.

Ultimately, the right rack for your board will depend on its size and what type of storage you need. With the right rack, storing your paddle board doesn’t have to be a hassle!

Soft SUP Storage Solutions

If you’re looking for a safe and effective way to store your paddle board, consider using one of the many soft SUP storage solutions on the market.

These storage products are designed specifically for paddle boards, and they offer a variety of benefits that make them ideal for protecting your investment.

Some of the most popular soft SUP storage solutions include:

  • Paddle Board Bags: Paddle board bags offer protection from the elements and help keep your paddle board clean and dry when not used. They come in various sizes to accommodate different paddle board sizes, and they typically feature multiple compartments for storing paddles, life jackets, and other gear.
  • Paddle Board Covers: Paddle board covers offer similar benefits to paddle board bags, but they’re typically lighter weight and easier to transport. They also tend to be less expensive than paddle board bags. However, they don’t offer as much protection from the elements, so it’s important to choose a cover that’s made from durable materials.
  • Paddle Board Racks: Paddle board racks are a great way to store your paddle board when you’re not using it. They allow you to keep your paddleboard off the ground and out of the way, and they come in a variety of styles to fit different needs. But because they don’t offer as much protection as other storage solutions, choosing a rack made from sturdy materials that won’t easily rust or corrode is essential.

No matter which soft SUP storage solution you choose, it’s important to store your paddle board in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

This will help ensure that your paddle board remains in top condition for years.

Storing Inflatable Paddle Boards

When storing your paddle board, keeping it out of direct sunlight is the most important thing. UV rays can damage the material and make it more susceptible to punctures.

If you have an outdoor storage shed, that’s ideal. But if you don’t, simply covering the board with a tarp or blanket will do the trick.

If you live in a scorching climate, you may consider storing your board in an air-conditioned space. This will help prevent the material from drying out and cracking.

Finally, always ensure your paddleboard is completely dry before storing it away. Moisture can cause mold and mildew, which can ruin your board.

If you’re storing the board for an extended period, consider putting some silica gel packets in the storage area to help absorb moisture.

HOW TO STORE YOUR PADDLE BOARD CORRECTLY

Unfortunately, many paddleboards have been damaged when they’ve got faulty storage in their house. Nobody wants a paddleboard to be damaged in a storage box. Why?

Tell me the reason for their failure. There are so many terrifying tales of discoloration, cracking, and mold. You won’t get it.

This lesson will show you where to keep a paddleboard and where to put your best SUP equipment to avoid damage during use. It seems much simpler.

How Do You Store a Paddle Board in a Garage?

Many people use garages with easy access places. A garage can provide a good middle ground between storing your boards inside or at home in SUP storage.

Garages are also cold and chilly during winter. Keep paddleboarding up using a wall or roof rack to keep moisture at bay.

With Rafters

How many racks have tools? The ceiling is the next best option. With the rafters, your body weight is better distributed, and the wall almost eliminates the pressure points under walls.

Then I’d suggest removing the fins from the board to ensure safety. The downside of this paddleboard storage strategy is the weight you must always carry.

The weight of this can be a bit tricky.

How to Store a Stand-Up Paddle Board Inside

Regardless, if the board has a hard or inflatable paddleboard, it is a good idea to keep it there when you need to.

Indoor storage rooms protect your board from all the above threat possibilities and make your board easily accessible.

However, it is not necessarily meant to be stored inside your house if your home has an “indoor” space. A garage or shed is a good choice for long-term storage. Alternatively, paddleboards are easily stored if they’re mounted on walls.

The alternative can help you save floorspace while showing your pride in your job as stylish conversational pieces.

What if I have to store my SUP board outside?

Are you missing board space? We Can’t Have Hope! It might be the only place you can store the outdoor boards when the home décor or garage storage is impossible.

Okay. If you follow the following rules you will have an excellent time!

So if you want to store your boards inside a shed I can give you a few ideas on how this should work out. Board bag can also provide great protection against direct moisture.

How to Store a Paddle Board

Although you will realize after completing the course you can paddle all year long, you have two different ways to store your SUP during the winter off-season. This includes:

On a Rack

Typically paddleboarders opt using racking systems because they consider this the easiest option. Whether you build the rack yourself and buy the product in the form you want it to be.

Best Ways to Store a Paddle Board Outside

If you decide to keep your boards outdoors, consider the risk. Direct contact with ultraviolet radiation can cause damage, tearing and warping on your board or its shell.

Even firmly constructed structures like foams are susceptible to deformation due to heat damage. The foam expands in high-temperature conditions, resulting in missshaped boards.

This affects board credibility, but creates an inherent liability for future usage. Take your serial # when storing your device in the freezer to prevent a possible burglary.

Wall-Mounted as Home Décor

Using your stand-up paddleboard in your home doesn’t bring as many choices to a home as garages but it lends itself to many attractive setups.

Again, you must be careful with your boards’ weight and length to determine a suitable storage place. If there’s too much foot traffic inside the house, we don’t recommend using a stand for storage.

If stored horizontally or vertically mounted, the board could quickly get damaged. Of course, there are options that can be mounted on ceilings in homes, however this kind of sabotages their purpose.

What is the Best Way to Store anInflatable Paddle Board?

The easiest way to store inflatable boards is by leaving them partially inflated and then storing them like an upright board. It prevents any deformities.

If there’s only limited space available, inflatable boards can be used because they can be easily stored during the off-season.

On a SUP Wall Rack

Racks have become the preferred storage solution for paddle boards. It’s possible to buy racks that contain straps and padding which will protect your board in its place while keeping the outside safe from damage.

If a paddle board rack extends over a full length of board be sure to keep your board facing up to ensure it does not damage the hull. GILI Minimalist Paddleboard Wall Rack has become a popular choice among many wall mounting options, Easily accessible wall racks.

More information is available in SUP Storage Rack guides. Alternatively, you can install horizontal SUP racks in your home.

Freestanding Horizontal Paddle Board Racks

There are always options for rack storage. Freestanding storage racks for one, two, or more boards are an excellent option. So you protect the surface.

If it doesn’t exist you should go with that. However, with free standing horizontal racks there must be careful weight distribution.

Can I Leave My Paddle Board Inflated in Storage?

Inflatable paddle boards are a PVC layer connected to fiber that links the bottom and upper layers. This board has similar rigidity as solid board once inflated but needs slightly different attention.

During storage and protection against sunlight, it’s advised that iSUPs should be deflated. It assists in maintaining a longer-lasting product.

But even a board kept away in direct sunlight or extreme temperature may remain uninflated for an extended time. No problem.

If the board remains inflated it could cause air leakage each day. If you understand that.

Car Rack

I would not recommend it to anyone that does NOT live close to water or does NOT paddle at any given time during the year. If you’ve used paddles for only two or three weeks a year, this will definitely never work for you.

It’s logical to do something like this for a paddler in the Southern Hemisphere. If leaving your boards behind in your truck racks for longer than ten minutes, then you should be careful where you wrap them tightly.

Whenever the board is too tight it will cause it to warp. But you should also consider how strong the wind will be when tie it up.

Inflatable Paddle Board Storage

Is it possible for a paddleboard to be held in the air? Yeah. But nope. We’ve reviewed the whole thing a bit more closely. Inflatables are more practical to use in the summer as they are easier to deflate.

Made from pVC layer woven fiber with drop stitching on upper and lower layers, they are highly stable and rigid.

However, the SUP storage techniques require slightly different handling and care.

In the case of an inflatable boat, you have enough room to put it in the water to keep it from sunlight or water.

Paddle Board Storage Tips

Buy a paddleboard and have fun! SUPs can be great fun and can take place at the local lakes.

As much as we’re interested in paddleboarding or surfing all the time on our SUPs, it can help you store them properly for years and keep them clean.

This detailed guide shows how to store SUPs indoors and outside. Topic covers.

Deflate (For iSUPs, Of Course)

This is a necessity to deflate iSUP to prevent air expansion due to higher temperature stressing the board material due to inflation over long period.

How do paddle boards fit together? Inflating your inflatable board can save you a good amount of time. Placing your folded iSUP in a storage container protects you from the elements and ensures the longevity of this board.

Can Paddle Boards Be Stored Outside For Winter?

Outside in winter, it can be difficult to store a paddleboard in. This increases the risk of damage by nature significantly. Cold temperatures cause structural damage to boards in the same way they affect the heat.

A snowy condition can also affect boards due to rain. If you really don’t need to put it anywhere else, you should get it out there. The soil is protected from water and sunlight.

I suggest buying two saw horses or making them. put a waterproof sheet under them, then cover them with a tarp.
